Dietary inflammatory index and elevated serum C‐reactive protein: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

Diet can affect the inflammatory state of body. Accordingly, dietary index (DII) has been developed to quantify properties food items. This study sought investigate association between inflammation and odds ratio elevated CRP (E-CRP) through a systematic review meta-analysis study. The International electronic databases PubMed, Web Science (ISI), Scopus were searched until May 2023 find related articles. From 719 studies found in initial search, 14 studies, with total sample size 59,941 individuals, included meta-analysis. calculated pooled (OR) E-CRP highest DII category was 1.39 (95% CI: 1.06, 1.14, test for heterogeneity: p = .63, I2 .0%) comparison lowest category. Also, results this showed that each unit increase as continuous variable generally elicited 10% (OR 1.10, 95% CI .0%). Subgroup meta-analyses there is higher articles reported energy-adjusted (E-DII) instead DII, measured hs-CRP, used 24-h recall FFQ instrument intake data collection.
